Recently, I have been reading a lot about marketing. I have noted down the key points that I have learned. Listing down the points and rules that I believe are required for being successful in your marketing initiatives.

Here are 25 Rules for Successful Marketing

Market Understanding and Campaign

  1. Understand the product or services before you start marketing. Product is the first P of the 4P Marketing framework.
  2. Identify your market and customers who may need products or services.
  3. Be patient, listen to understand what they want.
  4. Sell what customers need and not what you want to sell.
  5. Choose wisely media channels to test the right audience at economical pricing.
  6. Design a smart advertising campaign with the help of agencies.

Customer Interaction and Service

  1. Customer is your best brand ambassador and even a bad experience will lead to mouth to mouth negative publicity.
  2. Customers get confused if you give them multiple choices; present before them limited but appealing choices to make the decision simple.
  3. Be genuine. Do not forget we are marketing for humans.
  4. Be smiling and pleasant.
  5. Do not force your thoughts on your customers.
  6. Be soft and persistent, which can convert a hesitant customer to an actual buyer.
  7. Do not chase and irritate customers by repetitive calls, messages and emails.
  8. Do not make the cardinal mistake of speaking rudely, otherwise, you will lose the customer forever.
  9. Attend to customers complaints promptly and be always ready to accept the return of products.
  10. Always seek customer feedback and thanks to them for taking their time to give feedback.
  11. There are a lot of products which required regular maintenance and services like cars. Quality, timely and hassle-free services are critical.
  12. Smartly designed offers, particularly on festive days is now the order of the day and will increase sales.
  13. Do not boast non-existent features of products.

  15. E-commerce platforms are essential as customers behaviours are changing towards online buying from anywhere at the click of a button.
  16. Ensure ease of billing and payment.
  17. Get your product near to customers locations for easy accessibility.
  18. Quality of and trust in products is non-negotiable to protect brand image and reputation.
  19. Be proactive and keep your self updated with changing demands.

At the end of the day, the customer is the king and take care of their needs. you can not afford even a single dissatisfied customer. A dissatisfied customer can build a community of non-customers.
